Connecting external mail account
Open Exchange is capable of connecting to a mailbox external to the platform. This means emails from that mailbox are received in this mailbox, giving you the option to manage and collect all your mail in a single inbox.
In order to set this up, Open Exchange needs the connection details so I can connect successfully. This is similar to an email client like Outlook or Thunderbird.
A basic setup requires a few very basic details:
- Your account name
- Your password
Open Exchange will try to detect the correct settings by testing the DNS records.
Advanced setup allows for much greater customisation, like:
- Setting the server addresses yourself
- Allowing for a different format of usernames
In order to start this, select "Manual" ïn the Automatic setup:
Here, you may fill in the details of your webserver that hosts your e-mail
And here, SMTP. In case you need these credentials, ask your e-mail host.
